Ok just a little disclaimer here. This article is not meant to discredit anyone or to cause a problem of any kind. The events that are described here are as they actually happened. Just FYI.
Ok now that we have that out of the way. This article is regarding the 500+ fps Power Upgrade Spring for APS2 AGM/Type 96 TM VSR-10 Sniper Rifles. We obtained this one from Evike.com.

So I was extremely excited about this upgrade. Could not wait for it to arrive. A 500fps upgrade for $19.99!!! Well, if you are thinking of this upgrade, make sure you do a little research.
First off I was a little disappointed with the packaging. A friend and I both ordered a few things from Evike, so we had it all shipped in one box. After opening the box with all the new toys in it I noticed my new spring was just free floating (well, free rolling) around in the box. No packaging at all. Hmmmm, whatever. My dreams were crushed further when I disassembled my Well Warrior I: L96 cylinder [review] [disassembly guide], pulled out the old spring and attempted to put the upgrade spring in. What was the problem? It didn't fit. Can't put it any more simple than that. The spring was to big to fit into the piston. It just didn't fit.
I double checked Evike's website to make sure it was compatible with my rifle. And yes it still said that the Well was supported by this spring.

So I ended up calling Evike. After about a half hour one of the "techs" informed me that my problem was my rifle was designed for a 7mm spring and this upgrade spring was a 9mm spring. "Then why does your site say it is supported?" I asked. Didn't really get an answer. So I then asked if I could get my money back on it. "Yes, after you pay shipping and a 30% restocking fee." was the answer.
So you can understand I was a little disappointed at this point. They listed it as working with my rifle and it didn't. Now I am supposed to pay to send it back. And they still haven't updated their site with the fact that it does not work with the Well rifles.
So after all this I then asked if they would just ship me the 9mm version of the spring. But they don't carry it. Hmmmm. All of the rifles they list as compatible (AGM/JG/UTG/Well/HFC) are all supposed to be clones of the Maruzen Type96 rifle. So it makes me wonder if any of those clones are actually a 7mm spring. I might even consider buying a different brand clone of this rifle just so I can use me upgrade spring that I wanted so badly. But I always stop myself before ordering, wondering if they will have the same problem as my Well did. Does anyone out there have a success story (or otherwise) with this spring? If so please send it in.
Long story short. I have an upgrade spring just sitting around.
