This is the Gaurder Speeder 2000 Chrono. This particular chrono was designed for airsoft purposes and uses a set of electronic eyes to calculate a projectiles velocity. Radar and sound chronographs can be an alternative to the electronic eye but there can be a variation of results because of so many uncontrolled factors. This version really makes it very simple and gives accurate results so that there is no more guessing when it comes to the speed of your weapon. I purchased this particular chrono from Evike.com for $139.99.
Chrono (Speeder 2000)
AC adapter
Flash hider tube
The Gaurder Speeder 2000 chrono is as simple as it gets. There is a power switch on the back and one button on the front that allows you to switch between Meters Per Second, Feet Per Second, and Joules. All you have to do is screw in the flash hider tube (optional but recommended), turn it on, turn it to your desired unit of measurement and shoot through the hole in the front of the unit. It will instantly give you a reading which you can press the front button again to change the units of measurement for that reading if you choose to do so. Another great feature is that it will operate on an internal rechargeable battery (included) or on the AC adapter (also included) so it is entirely portable and will always have a power source. Lastly there is a hole in the bottom for the Chrono to mount on a tripod, any standard camera or camcorder tripod will do, which makes it great for setting up for yourself or your airsoft team.
Pros:
Small size (L14xW11xH4.5cm) for portability, internal battery for cordless operation, Simple to use without complications, multiple units of measurement, tripod mountable, easy to read, very accurate.
Cons:
Not a lot of features (Rate of Fire, programmable), one shot memory, not the cheapest of the chrono line, no case included.
This chrono came in with a hefty price tag, however for it’s ease of use, portability, and most importantly, accuracy, it was well worth it. After doing much research the electronic eye is the most accurate reading system for a chronograph for airsoft to date. There were cheaper versions, however, they had several small parts to keep track of. I bought this chrono with the mind set of a box with a hole to shoot through that will give me an accurate reading. I have received nothing short of my original thought. This is a great buy for any airsofter looking to find answers in terms of velocity.
